Seminary OPT Internship for International Students
Description
This internship is designed for international seminary student graduates for a full 12-month period as a post-completion OPT (June-May). The internship consists of two parts:
Overall, 40% of the funding will be provided by ISI and the intern must raise the remaining 60% (about $24,000). The intern is paid with ISI funds for 20 hours a week during the summer, during which time the intern does the preliminary training modules with a coach (this precedes the cohort training described above) and raises funds for the 9-months school year (some training and coaching will be provided for the fundraising). If the funding goal is reached, then the intern will be paid for 40 hours a week for the 9 months, but if the funding goal is not reached the number of hours will be reduced proportionate to the amount raised (however, to meet the OPT requirements, the hours per week must be at least 20, which means the intern must raise at least $4,000).
Statement of Faith
On the application, you will be required to agree to ISI's statement of faith.
Application process
ISI’s funding is for three interns per year, so there is an internship application process to select those three interns. This involves filling out an Application for the Internship program (including 3 recommendation letters) and being interviewed by a member of the selection committee. The deadline for the application is December 31st. Applicants will be notified by the end of January for an internship starting in June. If the applicant is selected for the internship, then he or she would initiate the regular ISI application process, beginning with an inquiry form and followed by submitting the full application.
This internship is designed for international seminary student graduates for a full 12-month period as a post-completion OPT (June-May). The internship consists of two parts:
- Direct international student ministry under the supervision of an ISI City or Campus Director (location TBD):
- This will generally include participation in typical ISI ministry components, such as: Welcome events and other activities, Conversational English classes or groups, International Christian Fellowship (ICF) or other regular group gatherings, M28 Discovery Bible Studies, retreats, etc. (not every ministry will have all of these or do them in the same way).
- Training component, in which the intern participates in a cohort along with other interns under the direction of an ISI staff trainer. This will include:
- Going through ISI online training resources.
- Attending three in-person events
- EQUIP: ISI’s primary in-person training
- ISI Regional staff retreat
- World Changers Conference: ISI’s premier conference for Christian internationals.
- Completing a next step project.
- Reading several books.
- Meeting with your cohort (via zoom) to discuss and process each of the above.
